Call of Duty unveils Trials of Verdansk Warzone tournament

Call of Duty: Warzone has announced the Trials of Verdansk tournament.

The tournament will involve 120 content creators based in Europe and the Middle East and takes place from May 5th to 7th, 2025.

The content creators selected to participate in the Trials of Verdansk will compete for a €50,000 (~£42,526) prize pool and the chance to be crowned champion in the third tournament to take place on the popular battle royale map since its return in early April.

Verdansk’s return to Warzone has sparked a renewed interest in Call of Duty’s battle royale following a lacklustre integration of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 mechanics and weaponry in late 2024.

From a competitive perspective, Verdansk has already had a positive impact on Warzone’s esports scene. On April 4th, 2025, Twitch Rivals hosted the first tournament on the new map, generating peak viewing figures of 163,013, according to Esports Charts. As a result, the tournament is currently the most-watched Warzone event of the year.

The most-watched Warzone tournament of all time remains the first Twitch Rivals and World Series of Warzone collaboration back in June 2021, recording 441,145 peak viewers across its five-hour airtime.

The next major tournament for Call of Duty: Warzone is the HusKerrs’ Howl event organised by North American content creator and two-time World Series of Warzone champion Jordan ‘HusKerrs’ Thomas.

Teams will compete across two days of qualifying matches to secure a place in the finals and a chance to earn a share of the $48,000 (~£35,937) prize pool.

Elsewhere, attention is turning to the Warzone event that forms part of the Esports World Cup, a multi-title event taking place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from August 6th to 8th, 2025. Information on the format and prize pool has yet to be revealed.
